The Imo State Council of Elders supported Hope Uzodinma’s candidacy for a second term as governor on Wednesday, according to report.

During a visit to the Government House in Owerri, the state capital, the council headed by the chairman, Dr. Cletus Iluomuanya, approved the governor’s campaign for reelection.

Iluomunaya, who spoke during the visit, claimed that the council had chosen to support Uzodimma for a second term in order to carry out his plans for the state’s growth.

Additionally, he urged state officials to ratify the Imo Charter of Equity, which calls for an equitable and seamless transfer of authority and key political positions across the state’s three senatorial districts.

The governor was also given Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu by the council chairman as the organization’s unanimous choice to succeed the late Ambassador George Obiozor as Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s President General.

In his remarks, Uzodoinma praised the Imo Charter of Equity and said it will change the political landscape of the state for the betterment of all its citizens.

The governor pledged that his administration will provide all the assistance required to make the elders’ council’s choice of Iwuanyanwu as Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s President General a reality.
