After unidentified shooters broke into their home on Thursday night, ten members of the family—including seven women—were killed in a shooting.

They were ambushed by unidentified shooters at their residence in Pietermaritzburg, a city located in the eastern KwaZulu-Natal region, according to ABC News.

Police Minister Bheki Cele was scheduled to visit the location on Friday, according to the police, who stated that the incident occurred late Thursday night or early Friday morning.
Initial police reports suggest that unidentified gunmen attacked a Pietermaritzburg farmstead and ambushed the family, according to a statement from police spokesman Lirandzu Themba.
