On Thursday, the microblogging site Twitter withdrew the verification badges of Bola Tinubu, the president-elect and party leader of the All Progressives Congress, and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate.

Reporters learned that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, had a verification credential.

In addition to Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi, reporters, journalists, celebrities, and others were also impacted by the widespread removal of the blue tick.

The verification badges have vanished, as can be seen by looking at the handles of these political personalities.

According to Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, those who have free verified Twitter accounts will no longer have those badges as of April 20, 2023.

Tinubu, Obi, and a number of other people may have lost their verification badges as a result of a recent development that may be related to their failure to pay the verification subscription charge Musk mentioned.

On the microblogging site Twitter, the verification badges of the Nigerian singers Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid have been taken down.
