Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi, a member of the National Assembly chosen in the recently held general elections, has passed away.

The member-elect for Taraba State’s Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing constituency passed away on Saturday morning in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to reports acquired by Newsmen on Saturday.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesperson, Andeta’rang Irammae, said in a succinct statement made available to newsmen on Saturday that Maihanci became ill immediately after the election and has been undergoing treatment in Abuja.

He said that Maihanci’s passing had come as a great shock to the PDP and that both the party and the state’s citizens as a whole would miss him.

Abubakar Bawa, the party’s acting chairman, responded to the tragic occurrence by describing the death as a major blow to the PDP family in the state and the nation as a whole.

According to a family source who spoke with Daily Post about Maihanci’s passing, the late member-elect fell unwell soon after he was named the winner of the recently held election.

The family source indicated details on the funeral would be released later.

According to newsmen, the member-elect who ran for the National Assembly on the PDP platform easily defeated his opponents from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), and the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
