UPDATE: FG Begins Payment Of 40% Salary Rise Arrears

The 40 percent pay raise arrears for state servants have started to be paid by the administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Employees began receiving bank alerts about the arrears on Saturday, April 22, 2023, according to some Federal civil personnel who spoke with Punch on Saturday.

The arrears arrived together with the April 2023 salary, according to a high-ranking civil servant who spoke to the platform in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, under the condition of anonymity.

He said, “I received my own arrears today. Some of our other colleagues have also confirmed receipt of their arrears. It came in alongside our April salary.”

Another civil servant who spoke on the development in Ibadan, Oyo State capital said, “Yes, it is true. Though I am a teacher with a Federal Government school, I can confirm to you that I received my April 2023 salary alongside my arrears.”

This comes days after Newsmen claimed that Chris Ngige, the minister of labor and employment, had said that the federal government had approved raising salaries for the nation’s civil officials.

According to him, the government has raised the pay for civil officials employed by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and on the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS).
