On Sunday, another three-story structure that was under construction at Ladipo Oluwole Street, GRA, Apapa in the state, collapsed.

According to news sources, this occurred just 24 hours after Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu examined some buildings in Banana Island and ordered their removal due to substandard construction.

According to reports, a thunder strike during Lagos’ early-morning downpour caused the building to collapse.

Magret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the occurrence and stated that no one was hurt, but work is being done to clear the debris.

Asimiyu Tiamiyu, a volunteer with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps who was among the first on the scene in the Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, LCDA, informed Vanguard that no casualties were reported in the event.

He claimed that no one was involved in the tragedy because the workers at the scene of the collapsed building had left for a Sallah break.

He pointed out that the state government needed to shine a spotlight on the frequent occurrence of collapsed structures, which had resulted in the loss of many lives and billions of Naira’s worth of property.

When reached, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, stated that the evacuation operation was still in progress.
