On social media, a video of Nigerian people waiting to be evacuated by the Nigerian government in the war-torn Sudan has surfaced.

According to Newsmen, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has underlined that there is a current plan to guarantee that Nigerian people are evacuated on Wednesday morning.

When asked in a series of tweets what her commission and other pertinent organizations were doing to ensure that Nigerians in Sudan were safely brought home, Abike replied that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had arranged all payments necessary to complete the evacuation but acknowledged that some logistics were still unpaid.

She continued by saying that it is safer to evacuate citizens early in the morning in a time of conflict.

She wrote, “They are still in Khartoum. @nemanigeria has sorted all payments etc but there are still a few logistical delays. They will likely proceed early morning. Safer to leave early morning. A war situation is not a normal situation. We are all anxiously waiting to receive them.”
