The appeal filed by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, about his ongoing imprisonment at the Department of State Services, DSS, will be heard by the Supreme Court on Thursday (today).
On November 3, 2022, the secessionist appealed the Court of Appeal’s decision to prevent his release from DSS custody to the Supreme Court.
Kalu filed an appeal against the Court of Appeal’s decision from October 28, 2022, which suspended the execution of its previous judgement clearing him of all accusations and ordering his release from the secret police’s custody.
IPOB To Challenge Appeal Court Ruling Against Nnamdi Kanu’s Discharge
The appeal will be heard on Thursday morning, according to a statement issued on Thursday by Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead attorney for the IPOB.
He expressed optimism that the grace of God would “prevail in judgement over today’s outing at the Supreme Court”.
The statement reads partly, “Please be informed, Ezigbo Umuchineke, that the Supreme Court of Nigeria will this morning, hear Appeal over the continued illegal detention of our indefatigable Client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“We are very firm in our belief that the Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama will take absolute control of today’s proceedings.
