Plans by the Federal Government to abolish fuel subsidies by June of this year have been put on hold.
On Thursday, just after the National Economic Council, NEC, meeting that was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning Ahmed Zaniab provided the hint.
She claimed that after lengthy discussion, the NEC, which is made up of State Governors, came to the opinion that it would not be advisable to end the subsidy while the new administration was still attempting to get its bearings.

She added that the committee now debating the fuel subsidy problem needs to be broadened so that more Nigerians who were concerned could contribute.
She notably stated that there needed to be more interaction with the Petroleum Marketers Association, among others, and the Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC.
