10th NASS: Ndume Gives Condition To Back Zoning, Consensus For Senate Presidency

Senator Ali Ndume, the legislator for Borno South in the National Assembly, has vowed to support zoning of seats in the upcoming National Assembly if the procedure is just and open.

Ndume also committed to support the APC leadership’s choice to select a unifying candidate for the Senate President and other offices.

The former Senate Leader claimed that selecting a consensus candidate will make it easier to control any crises that might develop down the road.

Ndume said that equity, justice, and seniority are the criteria that are prioritized in most democratic practices when selecting the National Assembly’s leadership.

He said, “I am in the race if the ticket is left open, but if it is zoned outside of my zone, I will abide by the party’s decision if it is fair.

“Like I have always said if the party comes out with its zoning and it is fair because everybody should belong.

“We will wait for the decision of the party if they decide that fairness should be a priority in terms of the representation of zones, which is a fair thing to consider. Outside of that, the best thing is to leave the race open.
