Senator Andy Uba, a former senator from Anambra South Senatorial Zone and the APC’s candidate for governor of Anambra State, reportedly had his arrest and detention by the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja.
Uba was reportedly detained on Wednesday, April 26, by the Inspector General of authorities (IGP) monitoring Unit, though the authorities are still withholding the precise reason for his detention.
Andy Uba, a former senior special assistant to former president Olusegun Obasanjo, thrives when he stirs up controversy.
He is either involved in a public, private, or business dispute. The last scandal that the former candidate for governor of Anambra State was involved in included a debt of N50 million that he owed to prominent businessman Arthur Eze. When he failed to pay back the bill, some of his cars were seized.
He allegedly agreed to pay an installment of N1 million per month, but he broke his word. However, when the matter was brought up in court, he denied receiving any loans from Eze.
When contacted, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, responded, “No report like that before me.”
