This Is The Region To Produce Next Senate President – Asari Dokubo

In his opinion, the All Progressives Congress (APC) should zone the 10th Senate Presidency to the South East. Mujahid Asari Dokubo is a former Niger Delta militant.

According to Newsmen, after Bola Tinubu won the presidency, the debate has turned to who will be the next speaker of the House of Representatives and president of the Senate.

Relevant parties from the South East have urged the ruling party to assign the job of Senate President to the region, and parties from the North West have requested that the zone receive the role.

Stakeholders in the South-East based their argument that the region should elect the Senate president because the nation had not succeeded in electing a president from the region.

Dokubo requested the ruling to take into account the Southeast region for the Senate President in its zoning methodology for major officials in the 10th Senate during a live video feed on his Facebook page over the weekend.

According to him, it would be politically acceptable to zone the Senate Presidency to the South-East since doing so would help to mend fences and ensure unity, which would strengthen the polity.

He claimed that even though the South Eastern states had voted against the APC in the presidential election, they would have no cause for complaint if they were given the office of Senate President.

The independence fighter warned that if the South East is not acknowledged, Tinubu may be setting his administration up for failure and its demise.

He said: “But for me, Mr. President, and my senior brother, give the Senate President to the Southeast. All of this country must come together as we mend the wounds.”

“Any claims that the Igbo are under-represented will be disproved by giving them that position. For the position of Senate President, I have no favorite.”

Dokubo added that the South-South area would have many ministerial positions, the largest of which is the oil ministry, and that the Senate President job in the 10th National Assembly shouldn’t be zoned there.
