The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has come under fire from public affairs analyst Deji Adeyanju for acknowledging that the well-known “Yes Daddy” leaked recording was indeed a conversation between him and Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church.

Peter Obi was accused of lying by Adeyanju since he had previously denied having a phone discussion with the Bishop.

Thousands of Obi supporters claimed the phone conversation was fake and suggested that his political rivals may have been behind it when it first appeared online, according to Newsmen.

Leaked Audio: Peter Obi Reacts Over APC Propaganda Against Him

When a spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, released a statement indicating that there was actually a discussion between Obi and Oyedepo but that the one that was leaked had been doctored, they got more hostile.

“Political criminals are trying to spin the conversation as if the LP candidate was making a religious comment,” Okonkwo had said.

Obi, in a tweet also dissociated himself from the audio, saying it was fake.

“Let me reiterate that the audio call being circulated is fake, and at no time throughout the campaign and now did I ever say, think, or even imply that the 2023 election is, or was a religious war,” he had said.

When he acknowledged that he and the Man of God had a phone conversation, Obi seemed to take a turn for the worse.

Adeyanju Calls Out Peter Obi, Bishop Oyedepo’s Over Purported Leaked Conversation

The former governor of Anambra State did not dispute the recording during his appearance on Arise Television, but he added that he did not refer to the election as a religious conflict.

“Call it whatever you want to call it. I am not a religious bigot. Do you think I can just pick a phone and say ‘religious war’? No, I was even begging the bishop to help me ask his people to vote, which was what I was doing for six months — begging,” Obi said.

Adeyanju reacted, wondering why Obi admitted it after a month when he had previously lied through one of his assistants and even made threats to sue the online newspaper that had published the tape.

“He lied through an aide that the audio was fake after initially admitting through Okonkwo, then he comes after a month to admit the same after threatening to sue PG. Peter is always lying,” Adeyanju alleged.
