Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the suspended Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner, has been invited by a joint panel made up of members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
According to news reports, the beleaguered REC was called to account for his behavior during the supplementary elections for Adamawa State on April 15.

Days before announcing Ahmadu Fintiri, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the victor of the governorship race, INEC, however, distanced itself from the REC’s announcement.
The electoral commission also called Yunusa-Ari to its Abuja headquarters for questioning regarding his choice to reveal the APC candidate, but he did not show up.
A recent update is that Yunusa-Ari has apparently been ordered to appear at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja, by the inquiry panel established by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba.
In the run-up to the general elections in 2023, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Head of Interpol, Nigeria, Garba Umar, was chosen to lead the Election Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Team.
The development was confirmed to Newsmen on Monday by Funmi Eguaoje, the Force Criminal Investigation Department’s spokeswoman.

The FCID PRO, Eguaoje, confirmed Yunusa-Ari’s invitation and stated that the incident was under the purview of the inquiry panel and was not just a police concern.
Eguaoje said, “The suspended Adamawa REC has been invited by a joint panel comprising the police, DSS, and INEC officials. The committee was set up to investigate the matter, and the Chairman of the committee is AIG Garba. But it is not solely a police matter, the case is under the joint panel’s jurisdiction.
“The REC was invited by the joint committee, not the police. And I can’t confirm whether or not he has honoured the invite. I only know that he has been invited by the panel.”
