Abuja Teenager Detained For Killing Father In Mother’s Defence

A 16-year-old child named Emmanuel John has been detained by members of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command in connection with the murder of his father.

According to information obtained exclusively by our correspondent, Emmanuel of Madala village, Karshi, Abuja, killed his father with a pestle at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, after an altercation between the deceased and his (Emmanuel’s) mother.

According to a police source, one Yusuf Ayuba, a male from Madala, reported the guilty homicide to the Karshi police station on May 3rd.

Emmanuel is currently in police custody and will be arraigned in a juvenile court at the conclusion of the police investigation.
Commenting on the development following an inquiry by our correspondent during a press briefing on Friday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, said the suspect hit the pestle hard on his father’s head.

Garba said, “It all happened when the suspect’s mother and father engaged themselves in a physical fight.

“The suspect took sides with his mother, used a mortar pestle and hit hard on the father’s head which eventually led to his death.
“The suspect will be arraigned in a juvenile court at the conclusion of investigation.”
