10th NASS Leadership: Senators behind Akpabio Revealed

A member of the All Progressives Party named Imran Muhammad stated on Friday via his Twitter account that Godwill Akpabio, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, had the support of more than 60% of senators in his bid to lead the Senate.

As deputy senate president, he predicted that the partnership between Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin would succeed.

He claimed that senators who were in favor of Akpabio and Jibrin’s partnership had already made their commitments in writing.

“Over 65 senators were said to have aligned with the Akpabio/Jibrin alliance and had declared their support for them after signing off their commitment as proof they were in on the project”.

Prior to the 10th National Assembly’s commencement, competition for leadership among the nation’s legislative body’s members had persisted.

The former governor of Abia State, Akpabio, Orji Uzor Kalu, has been at the top of the list for the Senate Presidency in the Red Chamber presidential race.
