The pre-hearing phase for the petitions contesting the results of the February 25 presidential election began on Monday at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president, Bola Tinubu, is being challenged by the likes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and APM.

Remember that Tinubu received 8,794,726 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which proclaimed him the winner.

In the meantime, APM joined INEC, APC, Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and Kabir Masari in its petition. Mr. Masari served as a vice presidential placeholder during the primaries until being replaced by Mr. Shettima.

APM is contesting the results of the presidential election on the grounds of claimed serious violations of the electoral laws and INEC regulations.

In a 66-page appeal, Atiku and the PDP ask the tribunal to certify him as the victor of the election or to order a fresh one.

The former vice president is appealing the results on the grounds of numerous charges, such as irregularities in the voting procedure and inconsistencies in the vote total.

If I Am Not Contesting, I Won’t Vote Either of Peter Obi or Atiku – Tinubu

The case of the APM and PDP will be heard on Tuesday, according to the ruling made on Monday by the presiding judge, Justice Haruna Tsammani.
