Unity Govt: Kwankwaso Meets Tinubu In France, May Join Cabinet

According to reports, President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the February 25 presidential election, met in Paris, France.

The former governor of Kano State reportedly spent four hours talking with Tinubu behind closed doors on their friendship that dates back to the National Assembly in 1992.

The discussion, which began at 12.30 pm and finished at 4.45 pm, was to explore Kwankwaso’s probable inclusion in the new administration as Tinubu prepares to build a government of national unity, according to TheCable.

The discussion also covered topics related to selecting the National Assembly leadership before the next legislature’s start on June 13.

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Abdulmumin Jibrin, a leader of the NNPP and a former director of a Tinubu Campaign Organization, were both present at the meeting.

It was also discovered that Kwankwaso’s wife, Salamatu, met with the president-elect’s wife, Oluremi Tinubu, to discuss important issues impacting women and young people.

According to TheCable, Kwankwaso agreed to join Tinubu’s cabinet in principle but only after negotiations with the relevant parties on both sides.

While Kwankwaso would do the same with his party leadership, Tinubu is anticipated to brief Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, the APC governors forum, and other party leaders.

Additionally, it was discovered that Tinubu voiced concern over the tense ties between Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Ganduje, the outgoing governor of Kano state, and pledged to mediate a resolution.

Representatives of Tinubu have also been engaging with influential PDP officials in the meantime.
