Nigerian Lady Remanded In Kirikiri Prison For Assaulting Police Officer

Due to allegations that she assaulted a police officer in Ogombo, in the Lekki neighborhood of Lagos State, a Nigerian woman has been held at the Kirikiri correctional institution.

This occurs shortly after Nigerian Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti was detained in Lagos for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

According to news sources, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Public Relations Officer, revealed the most recent attack on a police officer in a post on Twitter on Tuesday night.

He claims that the woman, whose name has been concealed, was charged on Tuesday and placed in Kirikiri jail until June 6, 2023.

He tweeted: “Somewhere in Ogombo yesterday, she assaulted a police officer. She was arraigned today and has been remanded to the Kirikiri correctional facility till June 6 when the case come up again in court”

Recall that over the weekend, Kuti got into a fight with a police officer on Lagos’ Third Mainland bridge and smacked him in the process.

Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, ordered the singer’s arrest following the incident in order to conduct an inquiry.

After Kuti showed up at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in the company of his attorney and family representation, the Lagos Police PRO, Ben Hundeyin, confirmed his arrest on Monday.
