Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have come under fire for their remarks regarding the phone call between Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, and Antony Bliken, the secretary of state of the United States, according to the former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.

According to news reports, the presidential candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election criticized the US administration for speaking with Tinubu about enhancing ties with Nigeria.

Atiku claimed in a statement on Wednesday that the US government’s position on Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election is in direct conflict with Bliken’s call to Tinubu.

The United States should have waited until the entire completion of the ongoing court proceedings before endorsing Tinubu, according to another statement released on Friday by Obi, who also criticized the clarity of the phone conversation between Bliken and Tinubu.

Fani-Kayode expressed his reaction to the development in a post sent through his Twitter account, calling the way both presidential contenders have been discussing the US Secretary’s call to Tinubu sad.

However, the former minister counseled Atiku and Obi to stop bemoaning the phone call and move on.

He wrote: “The way in which @PeterObi & @Atiku are crying about @SecBlinken’s call to @officialABAT is pitiful. They should grow some balls & take the pain. Two grown men both act like jilted lovers who can’t bear the idea of the object of their love talking to someone new. O ma se o!”
