On Friday, Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT High Court issued an order delaying the suspension of Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party, and other party executives.

According to news sources, the National Organising Secretary, Clement Ojukwu, and National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara, both had their suspensions overturned.

Martins Esikpali John, Lucky Shaibu, Isah Zekeri, Omogbai Frank, Abokhaiu Aliu, Ayohkaire Lateef, John Elomah, and Dr. Ayobami Arabambi are the plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

The plaintiffs had requested the dismissal of Abure and the other three national officers of the party in an ex-parte action with the file number M/7082/2023, and the judge had granted their request with an order of suspension.

Following the parties’ arguments, the judge agreed to grant the request for a stay of execution awaiting the outcome of the defendants’ appeal.

This was stated in an ex-parte application filed before the court by the eight plaintiffs and designated M/7082/2023.

The defendants informed the court on Friday that they have an appeal notice pending with the court of appeal.

The judge ordered a suspended stay after hearing a lot of arguments from the parties.

Lamidi Apapa, the acting national chairman, has battled to establish his dominance over the party since Abure’s troubles, thus Friday’s decision halts his parade.
