On Thursday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s Federal Capital Territory Command reported that during operations on illegal drug dens in the territory, 34 people had been taken into custody.

This information was provided in a conversation with journalists in Abuja by the agency’s FCT Commander, Kabir Tsakuwa.
According to Tsakuwa, some of the suspects have been charged, and those who have been classified as users are receiving counseling.

“The operation was necessary to combat drug abuse, especially as Nigeria gets ready to transition to a new administration,” he said.

“On May 8, the leadership launched ‘Operation Tsaro’ to close down drug dens and capture dealers in the FCT.
