On his way out of the current presidential tribunal, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi was seen on camera distancing himself from the crisis roiling his party. The video has now surfaced on social media.

Before today, Saturday, May 20, the pre-hearing of Peter Obi’s petition against President-elect Bola Tinubu began at the presidential election tribunal, according to earlier news reports.

But after the court proceeding, the LP candidate was leaving when he was stopped by a reporter who wanted to know what he thought about the court’s decision to disqualify Dr. Alex Otti, the newly elected governor of Abia State, and all other Labour Party (LP) candidates in both Abia and Kano States.

Peter Obi Is An Illegal Labour Party Presidential Candidate – Bashir Ahmad

Remember that Alex Otti and all other Labour Party (LP) candidates in the states of Abia and Kano had their candidacies declared illegal by the Federal High Court in Kano, presided over by Justice M N Yunusa.

The court found that the selection process for these candidates did not follow the guidelines outlined in the 2022 electoral legislation.

Peter Obi promptly responded by directing the reporter to the party chairman and stating that it was not his position to discuss the matter as he was not in Kano but rather in an Abuja court.

Lamidi Apapa-led faction has emerged in the LP, which is presently dealing with a leadership crisis. Julius Abure-led faction is fighting to maintain control of the party.
