Adamawa Police Capture Two Kuje Jail Escapees

Two prisoners who were among those to flee from Kuje Correctional Center in July 2022 have been apprehended by the Adamawa Police Command.

This was said in a statement released on Monday in Yola by SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesperson.

He said that the escapees, Atiku Ibrahim, 37, and Adamu Ibrahim, 40, were captured on May 19 by the Police Crack Squad.

The fugitives were apprehended for livestock rustling and other criminal actions.They admitted under questioning that they had been held in Kuje Correctional since 2021 because to allegations of trading in weapons against them.

“They also confessed to have escaped to Adamawa, until their arrest.

“They further stated that they were awaiting trial in Kuje in a case of arms dealing and unlawful possession of firearms.”

Nguroje said that the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola directed that the escapees be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Adamawa Command.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the command had in July 2022 arrested another Kuje escapee and handed him over to the NCoS. (NAN)
