Today, President Muhammadu Buhari will formally open the second Niger Bridge.

According to Newsmen, the President will also commission six additional national legacy projects that the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing has already finished.

The other legacy projects include two additional significant bridges, three Federal Secretariats, and a road, according to a statement made on Monday by the presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina.

The projects, in Adesina’s opinion, were in accordance with the infrastructure improvement and expansion objectives of the Buhari administration.

The second Niger Bridge, which was first conceived of in 2005, will serve as the event’s centerpiece, as indicated in the release.

It added: “In 2014, there was an attempt to begin the project through Public Private Partnership (PPP) but this was not successful. The construction began in 2016 with the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF).”

The Loko-Oweto Bridge over the River Benue, which connects Benue to Nasarawa State, and the Ikom Bridge in Cross River State are two additional projects that the presidential spokesman said are scheduled for commissioning. As for the road project, it consists of the completed Section of the more than 200 km Kano-Kaduna Dual Carriage Expressway and three new Federal Secretariats.

The first of the federal secretariats in Awka is set on 5.106 hectares of land in Executive Business District Layout, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Second Niger Bridge To Be Tolled — Fashola

According to information obtained, the project was initially awarded on December 9, 2011, but wasn’t really finished until July 14, 2022, when the Ministry of Works and Housing took over.

In addition to 498 offices, a conference room, four committee rooms, an exhibition space, a banking space, a post office, and a dignified reception, the secretariat contains all of these amenities. A staff canteen, a fire hydrant, well-designed parking spaces, and other necessary amenities are also present at the Secretariat.

The second Federal Secretariat is situated in Gusau, Zamfara State, at Unguwan Dan Lawan, off Sokoto By-Pass Road. The project, which is located on 7.5 Hectares of land and was likewise granted on November 9, was essentially finished by November 30 and handed over to the Ministry.

The Federal Secretariat Yenagoa, which is situated on Alamieyeseigha Road in Bayelsa State, is the third to be officially opened. It was awarded on December 9, 2011, but wasn’t really finished until November 30, 2022, when the Ministry took possession of it. It is located on 7.5 Hectares of land.

The statement recalled that in February of this year, President Buhari officially opened a fourth one, the Federal Secretariat Lafia, which is situated at Bukar Sidi along Jos Road in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
