Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo recently expressed his resentment toward African chefs who recently announced their intentions to break the 100-hour cooking record held by Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef.
According to newsmen, Hilda has been in the spotlight for more than a week because she broke the record for the most cooking hours completed by a single person.
Although Guinness World Records has not yet formally acknowledged that she has surpassed Indian chef Lata Tondon’s record.

Wonyean Aloycious, a chef from Liberia, however, declared plans to challenge Hilda’s culinary record via his social media website.
Maliha, a well-known Kenyan chef who set two Guinness world records in 2017 and 2019 but was unable to have them officially recognized, has also promised to challenge Hilda’s record in August of this year.
In response to this, Kanayo O. Kanayo voiced anger about the African Chefs’ choice, claiming it was an attempt to shorten Hilda’s celebration in a video posted on Instagram.
He argued that everything has a process and that the cooks have to let Hilda savor the occasion before attempting to beat the 100-hour cooking record.
People should look for other world records or niches to shatter, he continued, rather than trying to smash the cookery record.

He captioned the video, “Why did some people wait for @hildabaci to cook for 100 hours to discover that they can cook longer than her. When they say Africans have problems, this is part of it.
“Those Nigerians and other Africans suddenly woke up to cook. Please create your own niche”
