Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), the principal attorney for Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who is running for president, has threatened to make public the alleged theatrical behavior of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Uzoukwu claims that the electoral authority is holding back crucial documents in order to modify them before releasing them.

This was said by the attorney on Tuesday in Abuja during a press conference before the tribunal hearing.

He said, “We have written five letters indicating to pay and that we’re ready to collect those documents. The letters were duly received and endorsed by INEC. Why are they telling lies to say that we couldn’t pay? This is very unfortunate.

“What about the documents we have collected? Don’t we pay for them? Of course, we paid for them and those ones were given to us but refused to give us others.”

The party intends to issue INEC a subpoena to compel them to release the records as soon as hearings start on May 30 (the day after the inauguration), according to information provided by Obi’s attorney.
