Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, has ruled out the possibility of joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) after his term is over.

Despite this, Ortom vowed to work with and support Bola Tinubu as president-elect of Nigeria in his capacity as a PDP member.

The governor spoke on Wednesday’s episode of Arise Television’s Morning Show and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to advancing equality and justice in Nigeria.

As part of this promise, he emphasized his efforts to support a Southern presidency, saying: “That is not on my table, I’m in PDP, and I worked for the Southern presidency, of which Tinubu and Obi were a part. Presently, defecting is not on my agenda.

“If Tinubu is sworn in, I will continue to pray and support him to succeed,” Ortom confirmed.

“I remain the leader of PDP in Benue State but will continue to work for equity and justice in Nigeria.”

Ortom was a member of the so-called “G-5,” a group of five unhappy PDP governors that allegedly worked against Atiku Abubakar’s bid for the presidency on February 25.

There have been rumors that Ortom supported Peter Obi, the previous governor of Anambra State, during that election.
