Comrade Julius Abure continues to serve as the national head of the Labour Party (LP), according to Joe Ajaero, the NLC’s national chairperson.

The labor leader noted that there are procedures for ousting party leaders during his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The NLC president deemed it unacceptable for anyone trying to take over the role of the LP national chairman to provide a distraction.

“There is no meeting, nor NEC meeting called which NLC as trustees has attended where any officer has been removed.

“So, any distraction for people to perpetuate themselves in the office is not acceptable to us. That is where we are, and it is the position as of today.”

According to news sources, the party is experiencing a leadership crisis, with Bashir Lamidi Apapa, the National Deputy Chairman (South), leading one faction and Abure, the faction that includes Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, Alex Otti, the newly elected governor of Abia, and lawmakers-elect, leading the other.

Ajaero cautioned that a number of labor conflicts could arise under the new administration as a result of unsettled agreements left by the outgoing one.

In light of the myriad unresolved industrial issues that the departing Buhari administration had neglected to address, he expressed sympathy for the incoming Bola Tinubu administration.

Ajaero proposed a potential “spillover effect” on the next administration when analyzing the wellbeing of Nigerian workers under President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
