Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, has been awarded the title of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Senator Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, was also awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) title by President Buhari.
As part of the schedule of ceremonies for the Presidential Inauguration, the two highest national honors were presented to the incoming leaders on Thursday at the State House Conference Center in Abuja.
UPDATE: Buhari Hands Over Transition Documents To Tinubu
The official delivery of transition documents to Tinubu and Shettima came after the conferral of national honors.
According to Executive Order 14, which requires that the transition council prepare handover notes comprising, among other things, proposed policy direction for the future administration, the transfer of documents must be done in accordance with that order.
According to Newsmen, Tinubu will be inaugurated in as President of Nigeria on Monday, May 29th, succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari.
