At the Kara end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, a truck was the only vehicle involved in a single fatal collision that left two people dead.

According to reports, the tragedy happened on Wednesday at around 8 p.m. as the truck was transporting yam tubers into Ogun State.
It was discovered that the truck’s driver was traveling at top speed when he lost control and slammed the vehicle into a concrete guardrail.

The yam tubers poured into a ditch next to the road when the truck flipped over.

The truck also collapsed on one of the four males who were seated on top of the yams, killing both of them instantaneously.

Some hoodlums however rushed to the scene of the incident to guard the yams. They also mounted a roadblock which later resulted in heavy gridlock along the axis as motorists spent hours trying to navigate the route.

The Ogun State Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ahmad Umar, confirmed the incident.
He attributed it to speed limit violations, brake failure and loss of control.
He said the vehicle has been towed away from the road and MTD Isheri police station has taken custody of the crashed vehicle as well as the corpses.
