Echeng Echeng, the commissioner of police for Anambra State, has mandated a probe into the widely shared video showing a police officer accepting bribes at a roadblock.

The policeman was seen stopping automobiles and taking money from them in the social media footage, according to news sources.

This caused fury among several online users who criticized the policeman for openly accepting bribes rather than performing his duty of defending the public.

Ikenga stated that the behavior was viewed as being unprofessional and that the police officer was supposed to be doing a thorough inspection of the vehicles at the checkpoint.

He said: “Our attention has been drawn to a trending video of a policeman seen collecting money from motorists plying a road suspected to be within 3-3 area in Onitsha.

“The Command wishes to describe this behaviour as unprofessional as he was seen instead of conducting a proper screening on vehicles at the checkpoint but was doing otherwise.
