Troops Kill 51 Terrorists In North-East, 876 Surrender

Between May 18 and June 1, 2023, forces in the country’s north-east and north-west areas killed no less than 51 terrorists while detaining 93 suspected criminals.

Additionally, during the time under review, 876 members of Boko Haram/Islamic State of West African Province and their families surrendered to the military in Borno.

During the biweekly briefing on military activities across the nation in the previous two weeks, Major General Musa Danmadami, director of defence media operations, made these disclosures.

In addition to 22 terrorists’ logistical providers being detained, Danmadami claimed that the terrorists were slain during offensive operations against their enclaves in the two districts.

He said, “Troops also neutralized 26 Boko Haram Terrorist/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists, including 1 suicide bomber, arrested 22 Terrorist logistics suppliers, 2 Terrorist spies/informants, and captured 1 Boko Haram Terrorist fighter as well as apprehended 3 armed robbers and 52 suspected criminals in North-East region.

“Troops equally rescued 16 abducted civilians while a total of 876 Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists and members of the families comprising 89 adult males, 249 adult females, and 538 children surrendered to troops at different locations within the theatre of operations.

“Also, troops neutralized 25 terrorists, arrested 41 suspected criminals, and rescued 36 kidnapped civilians in the North West region.”

He noted that all recovered items, arrested suspected criminals, and rescued kidnapped civilians had been handed over to the appropriate authority for further action, while the surrendered Boko Haram Terrorist/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists and members of their families were being profiled.
