In their lawsuit contesting President Bola Tinubu’s victory, Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP) presented several documents to the election petition Tribunal on Friday, but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dismissed them.

journalists report In support of their case, Obi and the Labour Party provided certified accurate copies of the election results included in Forms EC 8As from six states of the federation.

Obi and his Labour Party argue in their joint suit, CA/PEPC/03/2023, that President Tinubu was not the legitimate victor of the February 25, Nigeria, presidential election.

In addition to the election results produced on Thursday, the petitioners submitted further election results from six additional states on Friday, including Adamawa Bayelsa, Oyo, Edo, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom.

Kemi Pinhero (SAN), the INEC’s legal representative, contested the acceptability of the supplementary results from Rivers State, calling them “strange.”

However, the attorney informed the court that the Commission would outline its objections to the results’ admission in its final written address.

However, after making his initial argument, Pinhero went on to inform the court that INEC had raised a concern over the submitting of the election result sheets since the petitioners had gone beyond the areas in which the election was under dispute.

According to him, those local government areas that were unlawfully included in the court’s procedures are foreign to the petition and are unable to uphold the law.

Justice Harunna Tsammani, the chairman of the five-person election petition panel, interrupted him during his speech and stated that it was improper for the lawyer to provide justification for their objection after the commission had indicated that it would do so at the address stage of the proceedings.
