Cross River Government Bans Okada In Calabar

Once more, the Cross River state administration has outlawed the use of any commercial motorbikes, or “Okadas,” in the city of Calabar.

Sen. Bassey Otu, the governor, issued the instruction in a press release on Wednesday that was available to reporters and was signed by Emmanuel Ogbeche, his chief press secretary.
As the State Government makes efforts to guarantee a secure and safe Cross River. Following appropriate consultation with the state’s top security officials, Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Otu issued the following directives.

“A complete ban on all commercial motorcyclists’ activity within the Calabar metropolis.The only places outside of the city center where motorbike riders may make a fair livelihood are the most distant ones.

“Anyone caught going against this directive will have the motorcycle impounded, and the offender prosecuted.

“In the same vein, those involved in criminal vandalization of public amenities like street lights, lamp posts, traffic lights etc are advised to desist forthwith, as culprits will be made to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement read.
