Aisha Yesufu, a popular Nigerian activist, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is to blame for the country’s disarray.
Yesufu said this in response to Tinubu’s warning that annulling the presidential election because he did not receive 25% of the lawful votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) could “lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy, and alteration of the very intention of the legislature.”
Tinubu told the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPEC) that the two petitions filed by Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, seeking the nullification of his presidential election victory are not only novel but also unfamiliar with the ountry’s electoral laws.
Tinubu’s submissions were included in his final written response to the two PEPEC petitions.
Yesufu responded to Tinubu’s threat on Twitter, claiming that the president is the main source of disorder and anarchy in Nigeria.
She was adamant that dismissing him would restore Nigerians’ faith in the voting process.
She wrote, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the main chaos and anarchy Nigeria currently has. Disqualifying him will restore the confidence of Nigerians in the electoral process in particular and the Nation in general.”
