Justice Chima Centus (CC) Nweze of Nigeria’s Supreme Court has been declared dead.

Justice Nweze died on Sunday at the age of 64, according to report.

However, as of the time of reporting this article, the Supreme Court has yet to announce his death.

In a dissenting judgment in 2020, Justice Nwaeze pronounced Emeka Ihedioha of the People Democratic Party, PDP, the victor of the 2019 Governorship election in Imo State.

Nweze also delivered the controversial Supreme Court judgment that declared then Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Yobe North Senatorial District in the 25 February general election in a three-to-two split decision.

Justice Nweze was born on September 25, 1958, in Obollo, Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration endorsed the National Judicial Council’s (NJC) proposal to nominate Nweze to the Supreme Court in 2014.
