Eight fisherman were slain by Boko Haram terrorists during an ambush in northeastern Lake Chad near the Cameroonian border with Nigeria.

On August 2, 2023, rebels who are thought to be from the Bakoura Buduma groups assaulted the fishermen in a remote spot close to Kofia Island in Cameroon.

After a series of successful bombings that resulted in the deaths of numerous terrorists, including senior Commanders, news reporters discovered that the Boko Haram elements had outlawed all fishing and farming activity in their alleged territory.

According to the sources, after killing the eight persons, they abducted dozens more fishermen on eight boats, demanding N5M for each boat and its occupants.

The sources claim that during the past few weeks, kidnapping, gun trafficking, cattle rustling, and the imposition of levies on farmers, herders, and fishers have all increased in the area.
