The orientation camp in Borno State has resumed operations, according to a Monday (today) announcement from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the state’s NYSC camp had been shut down for more than thirteen years as a result of frequent Boko Haram attacks.
During the time the camp was closed, corps members who had been sent to the state to serve camped there.

However, ML Yusuf, the Borno State command’s commissioner of police, paid a visit to the orientation camp before the corps members’ deployment on August 18, 2023.
According to the CP, he went to the brand-new orientation camp at Arabic Teachers College in Maiduguri to evaluate the security situation.
“This would enable us to know the nature of deployment to be made toward ensuring a peaceful conduct of the orientation which is commencing on the 18th August 2023,” Daily Trust quoted the police commissioner saying.
The CP emphasised that the NYSC orientation in Maiduguri is a sign of the state’s return to peace after a thirteen-year absence.
NYSC DG Warns Corps Members Against Violating Regulations
The CP talked on methods to guarantee hitch-free camping while he was with the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tijjani Bukar, and the State Coordinator for the NYSC, Mr. Mohammed Jiya Adamu.
The CP also gave them the assurance that there will be enough police officers strategically placed at the camp’s entrance, exit, and other key locations.
