Atiku Abubakar’s legal team will submit a motion to contest President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s request that Chicago State University not divulge sensitive information in his academic records. Atiku Abubakar is a candidate for president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that Judge Jeffrey Gilbert, a magistrate, had ordered the institution to provide Atiku’s academic records, and Tinubu, through his attorneys, had urged Ms. Maldonado to delay the decision.

Tinubu pleaded with the judge to impose an immediate hold on a recent order releasing his university records in order to prevent him from suffering severe and irreparable harm.

The President claims that if the order requiring the release of his academic records to Atiku is not delayed for possible vacation, the harm he would experience would be impossible to alleviate.

“There is harm in allowing discovery on issues and documents outside the diploma,” Tinubu’s lawyers said in their full briefing to the court seeking a review of Judge Jeffrey Gilbert’s order by Ms. Maldonado, a district judge.

The US district judge ultimately agreed to the request for a review and a postponement of the ruling until Monday.

Earlier, Tinubu’s alma mater was required by Jeffrey Gilbert to deliver all pertinent, non-privileged documents to the applicant, Atiku, within two days.

The legal team had up to 48 hours to respond to the application in the US court, according to Phrank Shaibu, Special Adviser to Atiku on Public Communications, who was speaking to Newsmen.
