128 Arrested Over Insurgency, Robbery, Kidnapping, Cultism In Anambra

128 people have been detained by the Anambra State Police Command on suspicion of participating in various offences throughout the state. Parading some of the suspects at the command’s Headquarters Amawbia, on Monday shortly after updating the media on his three months achievement in office, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeoye Aderemi, said, “Out of the 128 suspects, 30 were arrested for insurgency, 38 were arrested for cultism, armed robbery 39 and 22 for kidnapping and a total of 119 arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspects within the period under review.

Two Suspects Arrested For Robbery, Vandalising Second Niger Bridge

Those displayed included one who specialises in robbing News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) homes in Awka and the six suspects and their receivers who were earlier detained for damaging the second Niger Bridge armoured cable. Pump action guns, locally made cut-to-size guns, a pistol and cartridges, fake police uniforms, Biafra flags, various charms, one roll of armoured cable, 16 iron grill stolen from the 2nd Niger Bridge Onitsha, as well as 14 tricycles, 9 cars, and 7 motorcycles were among the items listed by the commissioner as having been recovered from the suspects.

He mentioned that the agents also freed six other kidnapped victims, who were afterwards reunited with their families.

He stated that as soon as the investigation is finished, all suspects will be charged in court. During the media update, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, and the State Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel, were also present.
