Reports of a falling out between Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, and Senate Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, have been refuted.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Ndume and Akpabio got into a yelling match on the Senate floor in October.
Ndume had brought up a point of order in the plenary to express his disapproval of Akpabio’s leadership of the upper house.
According to reports, the Senate Chief Whip raised a point of order and referenced order 54 of the Senate Standing Orders, but the Senate President declared him to be out of order.
Ndume Joins Senate President Tussle, Reveals Why He’s The Best Option
The legislator from Borno staged a walkout and went back to his office after being declared out of order.
Nonetheless, Ndume claimed he is older than Akpabio and can counsel him on matters pertaining to the Senate during his appearance on the Arise TV show, Morning Show, on Friday.
He added that even though they are coworkers and share similar interests, disagreements between them could arise but wouldn’t turn into physical altercations.
Ndume said, “I’m older than Akpabio and can advise him on issues of the Senate. I was the DG campaign of Akpabio, so by virtue of my position, I was his number one supporter and marketer to become the Senate President.
“We can disagree to agree, but not to fight. Myself and Akpabio are colleagues, we have the same interest.”
