New Generation Leaders of Bayelsa State, a democracy advocacy group, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Inspector General of Police, and other security agencies to step in and stop what they see as constant attacks on prominent members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the group denounced the attempted attack at the APC gubernatorial candidate Timipre Sylva’s local government area by alleged thugs wearing military uniforms in a statement released by the National Coordinator, Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei.

Kemepadei referred to the attacks by the ruling party in the State as a stupid and heartless tactic, pointing out that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had attacked and mistreated law-abiding APC supporters instead of asking for their votes.

By ordering security agencies to be vigilant due to the party’s persistent attacks, the group warned to retaliate against the ruling party should Tinubu choose not to intervene.

The statement reads, “As APC supporters in Bayelsa State, we condemn in totality the reports of sponsored political thugs dressed in full military uniform that attempted to invade Sylva’s LGA a few days ago.

“There are also others who have been harassing, intimidating and attacking ardent members of the APC which may force some of us to fight back if Mr. President does not wade in, it is highly condemnable and a serious attack on democracy. Because of the price we paid for standing for President Tinubu, we are now hunted as meats.

“We therefore call on the President, IGP and other security agencies to swing into action and bring the perpetrators of this sinister act to justice before it gets out of hand.
