During the signing of transactions worth over $500 million by Nigerian companies on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu took pride in his accomplishments as the former governor of Lagos State.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Tinubu revealed how he changed Lagos while serving as governor at the 10th German-Nigerian Business Forum in Berlin, where the agreements were signed.

“I governed Lagos for eight consecutive years. Today, I can proudly beat my chest that Lagos state is on the horizon and the fifth-largest economy in Africa, rising from ground zero. This is the track record that led me to the presidency,” said Tinubu.

”For those who fear various obstacles; look at me—I come from the private sector, trained by Deloitte. I served as the treasurer in Exxon Mobil. Define corporate governance in any way, and I am in it,” he said.

Tinubu’s remarks coincided with the signing of two significant contracts between German and Nigerian businesses.

Under the terms of the initial agreement, Germany’s Johannes Schuetze Energy Import AG and Nigeria’s Riverside LNG will provide Germany with gas.

Under the terms of the second agreement, $500 million worth of renewable energy projects will be invested in Nigeria by Union Bank of Nigeria and DWS Group.
