The Annunciation Specialist Hospital in Enugu received a cheque for N75 million (comprising N15 million and $50,000) from Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
The hospital, which is run by the Daughters of Divine Love (DDL) Sisters Congregation, was kindly given a $50,000 donation by Prof. Philip Ozuah, a friend and brother of Peter Obi, in addition to N15 million from Obi himself.
According to Peter obi’s statement on twitter, he said “The purpose of this financial support is to aid the Annunciation Hospital in establishing a College of Nursing Sciences. This initiative aims to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in Nigeria, particularly in the field of nursing.

“The $50,000 was generously donated by my friend and brother, Prof Philip Ozuah, while N15 million came from my humble self. The Annunciation Hospital is setting up a College of Nursing Sciences to boost the number of healthcare professionals in the country, as Nigeria, lacks basic medical care workers, especially nurses. I am, therefore, glad to contribute to this noble project. He said.
Obi expressed his gratitude for being a part of this excellent effort and emphasised the urgent need for additional medical experts in the nation. Recognising the scarcity of basic medical care professionals, especially nurses, he emphasised the need of projects like the Annunciation Hospital’s College of Nursing Sciences.
Peter Obi advocated greater efforts to help vital development sectors while appreciating the kindness of kind Nigerians who have contributed to the country’s growth and advancement.
Acknowledging that crucial development sectors in Nigeria were neglected, which resulted in the country’s low ranking in the Human Development Index (HDI), he underscored the joint duty of citizens in nation-building.
Peter Obi thanked Annunciation Hospital’s owner, administration, and employees for their continued dedication to enhancing healthcare delivery. He concluded by urging collective efforts to build the New Nigeria envisioned by the people.
