Biafra Day: Imo On Lockdown As Residents Observe IPOB Sit-At-Home Order

In Owerri, Imo State, economic activity was suspended on Thursday as people observed the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB,’s sit-at-home directive by remaining indoors.

This is happening in spite of the police’s guarantees of their safety.

Stores, marketplaces, and public and private offices were reportedly shuttered.

Remember how IPOB had commanded Southeast inhabitants to observe Biafra Day by staying at home?

May 30 was set aside by IPOB as a day to honour those who gave their lives in the Biafra civil war.

The West African Examinations Council, or WAEC, was also forewarned by IPOB not to conduct its exams in the Southeast on Thursday.
