Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that Nigeria must not toe the path of reliance on foreign donations to tackle its economic hardship as it will not make things better.
Tinubu disclosed this on Wednesday at a Joint session with the National Assembly to mark his first anniversary.
He noted that no amount of aid coming from foreign countries can take Nigeria out of the woods.
In his words, “Nobody, no aid, no other institution or personality will help us unless we do it ourselves.
President Bola Tinubu Returns to Nigeria from Foreign Trips
“No number of aid coming from foreign countries or any other nation can do it. They (foreign nations) take care of themselves first. Let us work together to build our nation, not only for us but for generations yet unborn”, he said.
This trend coincides with Nigerians’ ongoing lamentation over their lack of prosperity brought on by growing prices for products and services.
In its April report, the National Bureau of Statistics said that food and headline inflation reached a record high of 40.53 percent and 33.69 percent, respectively.
