The Organized Labour and the Federal Government are set to resume negotiations at 1 PM today, as confirmed. A senior source privy to the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Organized Labour, which includes the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), indicated that the ongoing strike has been “relaxed” following an agreement reached with the government on Monday night.
During the meeting, which was convened by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, it was decided that the Tripartite Committee on the new minimum wage would convene daily to expedite the negotiations.

The source explained, “We relaxed the strike in accordance with the agreement with the Federal Government to meet every day. We will resume negotiations at 1 PM today. We hope to reach an agreement by the weekend, but if no agreement is reached, the strike will resume next week.”
The discussions aim to address the ongoing concerns over the new minimum wage, and both parties are hopeful for a resolution soon.
