The completion of Kashim Shettima’s N21 billion mansion has been cited by Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a major accomplishment of his government.
Tinubu claimed that the project shows his dedication to accountability, openness, and the effective use of resources in spite of financial difficulties.
At the new building’s commissioning on Friday, Tinubu—who was represented by Kashim Shettima—emphasized that completing unfinished projects is preferable for the general population.
President Bola Tinubu Returns to Nigeria from Foreign Trips
The project was finished by Tinubu’s administration after being initiated with an initial N14 billion budget by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu stated, “As we commission this state-of-the-art edifice as the official residence of the Vice President, we are fulfilling a longstanding commitment and reaffirming our unwavering dedication to accountability, transparency and efficient utilisation of resources for the betterment of our nation.
“I hold a very strong opinion that abandoning projects after substantial expenditure have been incurred is inherently wasteful, and it is in the best interest of the Government and the public to see them through to completion,” Tinubu added.
On social media, Tinubu, however, came under fire for spending billions on the home at a time when the economy was severely damaged.
