Renowned media personality Oseni Rufai has advised Nigerian youths to be more deliberate in their political engagement during the anti-finance bill protests in Kenya.
Remember how thousands of Kenyan youngsters peacefully protested the contentious Finance Bill, as reported by Parallel Facts?
Protesters are calling for a more equitable fiscal system that takes into account the struggles that many Kenyans experience on a daily basis. Unlike earlier demonstrations, this movement welcomed technology and a funfair atmosphere.
In contrast to Kenyan youths’ political involvement, Rufai said Nigerian youths must be purposefully political, pointing out that Kenyan youths have firmly opposed the finance law.
He went on to say that Kenyan youths had already threatened to unseat lawmakers who supported the measure in the upcoming elections if they did not continue to protest.
Taking to his X handle, Rufai wrote, “Nigerian youths need to be intentional. Kenyan youths protesting against the finance bill have already told parliamentarians that voted in favour of the bill that they will not retain their seats in the next elections.”
In addition, he challenged young people in Nigeria to hold dishonest politicians accountable rather than supporting them, stressing the importance of deliberate political involvement in bringing about significant change.

“The youths are ready to get active politically. In Nigeria, you will see some youths defend these politicians,” he added.
